Understand is an application created to help developers analyze their code for errors. The tool is incredibly straightforward allowing you to get the best of it from first use.
Yoiur projects are accesible in different tabs and there are several options to customize the interface. Regarding supported programming languages there is no shortage of them: C/C++, Java, Javascript, PHP, CSS, HTML, Python, Pascal, Ada and many others.
Each language can be customized separately and settings also depend on the entries that are currently selected. There’s also a syntax highlighter so you can easily recognize project elements, and you can also expand/restrain functions.
Any project you open with Understand will be analyzed, and there are several settings you can configure for this process. For example, you can add custom filters – useful when your project has multiple files -, setup an ignores list to speed up the process and select which kindo of task should be performed.
The result is displayed in multiple tabs which include the related values based on the filters used. Reports can be exported as CSV or HTML files, altough you can also send it to the printer.

The application supports a wide range of programming languages, including Ada, C++, C#, FORTRAN, Java, JOVIAL and Delphi/Pascal. Probably, the most useful tool in this program is its editor with the syntax colorizing feature, which allows you to navigate easily in a large amount of source codes. With the help of this program you will be able to create aggregations of source code units and name them easily.
The main window of Understand includes a range of smaller windows. Each small window gives detailed information about any certain element of your source code. You can customize the interface according to your own preferences.
Another interesting feature of Understand is the possibility of comparing files and folders. It can help in the situation when you have two similiar sections of codes and want to understand why one of them is working and the other one isn't. Comparing folders with source files detects differences between the versions of a product.
