Norinco Mak 90How

Not many people who are new or unfamiliar with guns know exactly what you’re talking about when you mention a “Mak 90” but, put simply, the Mac 90 is an AK-47 variant. The MaK-90 by Norinco features a wood hand grip as well as a wood butt stock with a thumb hole in the buttstock.

I stumbled across this gun a year or two ago and got a good price on it, around $400, used. Well worth that amount and even more now with the looming gun legislation on the horizon.

Enough talk lets get to the meat of the review:

Norinco mak 90 sporter

Shooting
This gun shoots and handles like a champ. It shoots a 7.62 x 39 round and has a great deal of knock down power all while still being easily controllable. This gun can rattle off round after round with the reliability you expect from an AK47. The muzzle flash is very prominent in the Mac90, I’m not sure if this is just this gun or it is typical in all Mac90’s.

Trigger Pull
The trigger pull on this is what you make of it. It is, of course, going to be smooth like most well maintained rifles. Very solid feel to the frame of the gun as well with very minimal movement and play in the receiver and barrel.

Build
The feel of the gun is amazing, there is nothing like holding the piece of forged steel and wood that is an AK-47. With this model you can tell attention to detail and care went into the gun, most noticeably in the lack of play in the receiver and other parts of the rifle. The reasonable price is because this gun is a Chinese make of the Kalashnikov.

Summary
In closing of this review I’d just like to say that this gun is worth well more than what I paid for it and if you’re looking for an AK-47 or a variant of an AK this is a very suitable gun for just that purpose. If you find one of these in the $500 or less range and don’t buy it you are doing yourself a disservice.

Nice kitOctober 13, 2016

Great threading kit. I did have to chase the threads on the guide first as they were slightly oversize for the die. It took me about 15 minutes to resize the guide as it was difficult to keep stationary in a vice and about 5 more minutes to thread my Mak 90 barrel. Also got a phantom flash hider and crush washer. Spun on and clocked easy. All great and reasonably priced products.

Fast shipping, good service, complete packaging.November 10, 2013

Purchased this kit online Sunday, delivered by Wednesday the same week, barrels were threaded Friday evening. :-)
Kit contents: all the tools that came with the kit are quality, not cheap junk. Includes 4oz bottle of tap fluid of which I used roughly 1/2 oz to do two barrels. Other tools you will need to complete the job: bench vise, two hands to turn the die holder and possibly a friend to offer an extra set of hands but they are not mandatory.
This was the first time I threaded a barrel so I took my time and slowly made the cuts, following the pdf instructions from cncwarrior website.
I used a bench vise with soft jaws to hold the barrel verticle while I made the threads.
I threaded the barrel of a Romanian wasr and a stamped reciever Norinco MAK-90. I attached a Tapco slant brake to both rifles after finishing and it fit like a glove.
All and all, good kit, took less than an hour to thread both barrels. Very happy with the results.

I got this kit from CNC warrior to thread the barrel on my WASR2 ak 74. Worked like a charm. The instructional section they provided made it easy too. Thanks!
